Leadership and Advocacy

Personal Philosophy of Leadership in Counseling

Experience with Leadership

As a senior pastor and assistant clinical director, I have led projects for the benefit of disenfranchised communities that I serve.  The church that I pastor is in the McKeesport, PA area, a socially economic disadvantaged community – and even more so since COVID 19.  The economic depravation appears to continue declining with the closing of several businesses, as well as the decline of houses.

Additionally, as a former employee of Sojourner House, a non-profit, I use to set up tables in parks and other community events to educate the public and advocate for the families that we served.

Current Activities

My current activities consist of accepting speaking engagements where I can inform, educate and advocate for those with substance use disorders, as well as mental illness.  My purpose is to increase awareness, empathy and understanding about circumstances that impact those who suffer from these conditions.  In these uncertain times, I am able to offer services to the community through foodbanks, as well as extending monetary gifts to assist in meeting needs.

Professional Goal Statement

I believe in wellness of the collective; therefore, it is my goal to continue to lead by example being transparent, utilizing self-care, and with benevolence. My goal is to do no harm to those who I am honored to serve. As individuals are strengthened and experience wellness, then the community can begin to heal; thus breaking intergenerational cycles of unaddressed/under addressed mental and emotional pain.
